”寿命図鑑”

みんな、いつか、死んでしまう

だからこそ、みんな一生懸命生きていて、いろんなものを大切にできるんだ。

そんな想いを込めて、
動物、人、建築物、機械、天体…など、この世のすべてを13カテゴリーにわけて、
324個の寿命とそれにまつわるエピソードをあつめた図鑑をつくりました。

寿命図鑑は現在、日本や韓国、中国で出版されています。もうすぐ台湾でも出版されます。

私はイラストを担当しました。企画・編集はいろは出版さん、デザインはUMMMさんです。

“The Lifespan Book”

Everybody will die one day

That’s why we live life to the fullest, and cherish various things. We made this book with this wish.
This book has 324 lifespans with stories, separated in 13 categories: animals, insects, plants, human, buildings, machines, celestial bodies, etc…

This book has been published in Japan, South Korea and China, and will be published in Taiwan as well soon.

I’m an author of all illustration. I had the chance to be part of the creative composition from early stage. It was a pleasure to do this artwork. all illustration was done in around 6 months.

ハツカネズミ

寿命１年
“ぼくの心臓はちいさい”

哺乳類は、小さな動物ほど心臓の音が速く、心臓の音が速い動物ほどはやく死ぬんだ。

１分間に、人の心臓が60～70回ドクンというのに比べ、ハツカネズミは600～700回、ドクンドクン！

チョロチョロと走り回って短い命を必死に駆け抜けているんだよ。

Mouse

 Lifespan  1 year

”My heart is small”

Small mammal die earlier than big one because their heart beats are much faster than big one.
In 1 minute, human’s heart beat is 60-70 times, in contrast, mouse’s heart beats is 600-700 times.

A mouse run from here to there, a very active short life.

寿命８年

”女として生きていく”

クマノミはオスからメスへと変わることができる生き物。

群れのリーダーのメスが死ぬと、１匹のオスがメスに返信して次のリーダーになる。

卵をたくさん産むために、一番体の大きいオスが選ばれるんだ。いったんメスに変わるともうオスに戻ることはない。

Clown fish

 Lifespan 8 years

“ Live as a female”

A clown fish can change sex from male to female.

If a female fish of a leader in a shoal dies, a male fish transform to female, then become a new leader.

A biggest male is chosen as a leader to lay many eggs. After a male changes to a female, it can’t change back to male.

鉛筆

”フルマラソンより長く書ける”

寿命５０km

１本の鉛筆で描ける線は、フルマラソンより長い約50km！ひたすら書きつづけると、７時間ほどで小さくなるよ。

ちなみに、１度も使われていない鉛筆の寿命は半永久的！約４００年前に作られた日本最古の鉛筆はいまだに書くことができるんだ。

湿気のない場所で保管するのが長生きの秘訣。

まめちしき：ボールペンの寿命は４～５年。インクが固まる。

Pencil

“The distance of a line drawn by pencil is longer than the distance of a full marathon”

Lifespan  50km

The distance of a line drawn by pencil is around 50km! It’s longer than the distance of a full marathon.
If you draw with a pencil intently, the pencil will be small in around 7 hours.

Incidentally, the lifespan of a pencil which has never been used is semipermanent!

The oldest pencil in Japan which was made about 400 years ago still can be use.
A secret key to living longer for pencils is to keep them in a place without humidity.

Trivia: The lifespan of a ball point pen is 4-5 years. Because the ink will dry up then.

全てのカテゴリーには、どのように天国で過ごしているかを想像して描いた見開きのイラストがついています。

動物のカテゴリーは、温泉でリラックスしている風景です。

All categories has an illustration that I imagined how they would be and behave in a heaven. For the animal category, they are relaxing in heaven in hot springs.

最後のページは”ふろく”としてこの本に載っている寿命を短いものから長いものまでまとめています。

The last page is a collection page of  all lifespans on this book made from shortest to longest lifespan as an appendix.
